Message The little bolt is only used to install (or remove) the tensioner. If you insert the bolt all the way, it completely compresses the tensioner piston, leaving no gap. This would actually mean the tension against the belt would be too little, since it would effectively be pushing against that bolt--not the belt.

But since the bolt isn't in place (which is correct), that means the tensioner is pressing against the belt. Because there's supposed to be a 4mm gap there, the fact that it's completely squished down means that there's way too much tension on the belt, as the tensioner is effectively maxed out against the belt. It's pushing against the belt with greater force than it would be if the 4mm gap was present.

Hope this makes sense, I don't think I'm doing a very good job explaining it.
